Oh, chin up, you great wuss. I'm frustrated enough here. Why can't I bloody add a definition or description to my effing words? What if people comment *clears throat LOUDLY* and the comments drown my pretending-to-be-description 1st comment? Argh.
Perhaps this isn't the best place to start my cliché collection.

I assume you would allow an exemption for characters whose body parts are actually made of metal, yes? This would include cyborgs, a potentially substantial proportion of pirates, many senior citizens, and at least one Roman god.
And I think a case can be made for protagonists with platinum blonde or flaxen hair. In many cases the metal is invoked simply to allow a more precise designation of color.
What about personality types? Are brassy and mercurial now off limits? (Steely determination, I think we can all agree, wouldn't be missed) No more woolly thinking?

Maybe I'm a bit tired, sionnach, but which Roman god do you mean?
and are you thinking about any specific senior citizen? or just veterans as a category?
please be as exhaustive as you can.

Yes, yes; robots, ice sculptures et al excluded. Look, this was not one of my best ideas. Though I stand behind the general idea - there are some spectacularly clichéd fandom tropes and phrases out there. Somebody needs to compile them in a list, although perhaps not on Wordie.

sionnach commented on the word metallic or fabric body parts
Book titles of the form "The X and the Y" where X and Y are adjectives, or of the form "V not the N" where V is a verb and N is a noun.
examples: 'The Naked and the Dead'; 'Touch Not the Cat'
OK, maybe these aren't that widespread, but they annoy me.
Sorry, Tulimeeria, as you've probably figured out by now, topic drift is rampant on Wordie.
@Prolagus: I was thinking of Mercury, heavy metal star of the Roman Pantheon. In referring to senior citizens I was thinking of the increased frequency of procedures like hip and knee replacement surgery, which (I think) would leave most recipients with at least some kind of metal souvenir, such as a titanium pin. But mainly I was just bullshitting aimlessly, more or less as usual.
